Why PWA

What a PWA gives your Cyprus business

One codebase with your site

Your PWA lives on the same stack as your website — no separate mobile team, no duplicated logic, no sync drift

Offline by design

Service worker with cache-first strategies keeps pages, menus and booking forms usable on flaky hotel Wi-Fi or 3G

Install without the stores

One tap adds your icon to the home screen — no App Store review, no Google Play fees, no 30% commission

Web push & background sync

Send rebooking reminders and order updates, queue offline actions and sync them when the connection returns

EN/RU/EL out of the box

Cyprus speaks three languages — your PWA should too. Interface, dates and notifications localised from day one

Connects to your systems

Works with your existing backend, CRM or booking engine — REST, GraphQL, or our own yep.cy platform

Instant updates, zero review

Fix a price or change a menu item and it's live for everyone in minutes — no app store approval, no waiting

Process

How we ship a PWA — 4 steps from brief to install

01

Audit and offline map

We look at what your users actually do on a weak connection: booking flows, catalog browsing, staff checklists. Then we decide which screens must work offline, which can wait, and what the install icon should open first.

02

Shell, manifest and caching strategy

We build the app shell, set up the web manifest with your icon and splash, and pick the right service worker strategy: cache-first for menus, network-first for live bookings, stale-while-revalidate for news feeds.

03

Sync, push and real-device testing

We wire up background sync for forms and orders, web push with a clear opt-in, and test on Android, iPhone, tablets and slow 3G throttling. You get a staging URL to install on your own phone before launch.

04

Launch, update and monitor

We deploy to your existing domain — no store review, no waiting. Users get the new version on their next visit. We watch the cache hit rate, install rate and offline errors for the first month.

About PWA

A PWA in Cyprus — why it changes the mobile math

Cyprus businesses rarely need two native apps. They need a mobile experience that feels like an app: an icon on the home screen, offline access, push reminders and fast loading on a weak hotel or coastal connection. A PWA delivers exactly that from one codebase you already have — your website. No separate iOS and Android teams, no store review cycles, and a realistic budget starting at €1990 instead of €25,000–50,000 per platform.

The island's audience is split across Greek, English and Russian. A PWA inherits your site's multilingual setup instantly — no separate app builds per language, no re-submission to stores when you add a locale. Dates, currencies, RTL if ever needed: all handled once, on the web, and the installed app follows automatically.

Distribution changes too. You skip Apple's review queue and Google's policy checks entirely. The user taps "Add to Home Screen" and gets a full-screen experience with its own splash screen and icon. Updates ship the moment you deploy to your server — no waiting for users to tap "update" in a store. For a service business, restaurant menu or internal staff tool, that speed of iteration is worth more than a store listing.

FAQ · PWA

FAQ about PWA development in Cyprus

How is a PWA different from a regular website?
A PWA is still a website, but with an installable shell. The user adds your icon to the home screen, opens it full-screen and keeps working even when the connection drops. Behind the scenes a service worker caches the interface and data, so repeat visits load almost instantly. It feels like an app without the app store.
How much does PWA development cost?
A focused PWA for a service business or catalogue starts at €1990. A more involved build with push notifications, offline data sync and a custom admin panel runs from €4900. Full-scale products with user accounts, background sync and integrations are €9900 and up. We quote after a short discovery call.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, with honest caveats. Installation is manual via the Share menu, push notifications arrived only in iOS 16.4 and require the user to add the PWA to the home screen first, and background sync is limited. The offline shell and instant loading work fine. We design around Apple's constraints so the experience stays solid.
Can I publish a PWA to the App Store or Google Play?
Not directly. Google Play accepts PWAs wrapped in a Trusted Web Activity, which is a thin native shell. Apple doesn't allow pure PWAs on the App Store. If store presence is your main customer acquisition channel, a native app may be the better fit. We'll tell you which route makes sense for your business.
How does a PWA update compared to a native app?
Instantly. You publish changes to the server and every user gets the new version on their next visit — no app store review, no waiting for users to tap "Update". For a booking system or a menu that changes daily, this alone is worth choosing PWA over native.
What can't a PWA do that a native app can?
No access to Bluetooth, NFC, advanced camera controls or background location tracking. Push notifications are weaker on iOS. And you miss out on store traffic as a discovery channel. If your product needs those, we'll recommend native. If not, PWA saves you a serious amount of money.
Why is PWA cheaper to run than a native app?
One codebase instead of two. A native MVP for iOS and Android typically starts at €15,000-€20,000 and doubles your maintenance forever after. A PWA shares its code with your website, so you pay for one product, update it once and support one infrastructure. Over three years the total cost of ownership is usually 60-70% lower.
When should I choose a native app instead?
When you need deep hardware access, heavy 3D graphics, or the app store as your primary marketing channel. Also if your users expect a polished native experience with platform-specific gestures and animations. For everything else — service booking, catalogues, internal tools, media — PWA is usually the smarter first step.
