Key strengths include an intuitive visual editor for emails, ready-made automations, integration with all popular platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, WordPress), and excellent deliverability. Suitable for most businesses: stores, services, SaaS, media, agencies.
When to choose Mailchimp
- A small base (up to 50k subscribers) — Mailchimp is ideal for small/medium-list size in terms of price/quality.
- Simple workflow — need campaigns, basic automation, no complex logic

- Free - Up to 500 contacts and 1000 emails/month. Suitable for startups
- Essentials — from $13/month for 500 contacts, up to $350/month for 50k. Welcome series, basic automation
- Standard — from $20/month. Multi-step automation, retargeting, lookalike audiences, send-time optimization. We recommend this plan for most users.
- Premium — from $350/month. Multivariate tests, advanced segmentation, phone support
Price increases with Audience size. Already at 10k contacts, Standard is $80/month ($960/year). For comparison: Brevo For 10k contacts, it's €25/month. The difference becomes significant on larger volumes.
GDPR and data residency
Mailchimp — an US company with servers in the US. For EU businesses (including Cyprus), data processing of EU citizens is governed by GDPR + Data Privacy Framework (formerly Privacy Shield). Mailchimp automatically signs DPA (Data Processing Agreement) and SCC (Standard Contractual Clauses).
If data storage within the EU is important - we recommend Brevo (servers in Germany and France) Mailjet (servers in EU) or custom solution on Postmark Servers EU + Mailgun EU region. GDPR requests (access, deletion, data portability) are processed within 30 days.
Domain authentication: DKIM, SPF, DMARC
Without proper domain authentication, emails end up in spam. Mandatory settings:
- SPF — TXT record allowing Mailchimp to send from your domain
- DKIM — cryptographic signature of emails. CNAME records in DNS with Mailchimp keys
- DMARC — policy for emails that failed SPF/DKIM. Starting with p=none, then p=quarantine, and finally p=reject
- BIMI — logo display in Gmail/Apple Mail. Requires VMC certificate (€1500/year from DigiCert), but provides +10-15% increase in open rate
